RECENT NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT
A couple of developments over the last few weeks.
You will note that the MAC have finally removed all the dilapidated buildings in the aviation precincts. I note that there are no apparent plans to replace these.
I also note that Tullamarine Airport is moving ahead with its 3rd runway and have started a consultation process titled “Melbourne Airport Noise Sharing Plan, Industry Engagement, Phase 1”.
YMML has plans to extend the 2500ft step south of the CBD to approximately 23nm from their airport and introduce a new 3500 step.
This will decrease the 4500ft step over Point Cook to 2500ft
To the north, the Kilmore Gap appears untouched, but directly west, to of Kilmore and Wallan, up to Lancefield and just west of Romsey, will be decreased to 2500ft
MACCI will be making a submisson on this, due by the 12th of December, but I encourage members to make their own submissions, or forward their thoughts to <president@macci.org.au>. I have attached pictures from the Aviation State Engagement Forum documents, but encourage you to check out the full document yourself.

I also note that there are changes for an increased restriction over the Melbourne CBD over new years https://www.avsef.gov.au/consultations/proposed-temporary-restricted-area-new-years-eve-laser-display-over-melbourne-cbd
MACCI wont be making a submission on this one, so feel free to make your own submission.
Last week, I travelled to Canberra as I had the opportunity to meet with politicians and put to them some of the issues that MACCI are experiencing.
As you can see, I met with both Senator David Pocock and Bridget McKenzie – check out my photos.
There is further meetings coming out of this event and I will keep members informed as I can.
We did have a meeting scheduled for this week with Mark Dreyfus MP, our local federal member, but unfortunately, he has cancelled. I am still working through how to proceed with him, but given the rumours of his impending retirement, I doubt we will achieve anything there.
Lastly, we have our AGM coming up at the end of the month – please see the notification letter sent out for 25th November at 17:30. We welcome all members to attend and especially welcome anyone who wishes to nominate to join our Committed of Management.
I hope to see you there…Kind regards
Sean Runacres…President
